Shelley Huang

Zijian Shelley Huang is an art student who is from China and studied visual communication in his BA degree. Books from different civilisations are read, stories from past thousands of years are heard by him. There is a belief in his works: our ancients commend older’s decisions, and made new mistakes. We read stories of them, and make troubles with clear conscious. 

Decolonizing Design Education

‘The Shape of the Shackle’ is inspired by the critical phrase which questioned the necessary of decolonizing design.  Therefore, the project studied from the boundary between colonial design and decolonizing design, trying to visualise the damage which caused by colonial design from very basic Chinese typefaces today.
